Occupational therapy services for adults and seniors, available at home, in the workplace or virtually

Based in Southeastern New Brunswick

Occupational therapy at a glance

For a simpler, safer and more independent life

Occupational therapy helps people live life to the fullest, regardless of the challenges they face. In the community, it plays a vital role in enabling older adults and those with disabilities to continue enjoying their homes and daily lives with confidence. Through personalized assessments, tailored recommendations, and practical solutions, occupational therapy helps prevent falls, avoid unnecessary hospitalizations, and delay—or even prevent—the need for long-term care placement.

Occupational therapy is also a valuable asset for employed individuals. By optimizing workstation ergonomics, reducing musculoskeletal pain, and improving comfort, it contributes to greater productivity, fewer injuries, and overall well-being at work. It's a comprehensive service that focuses on safety, performance, and independence… to live and work better, longer.

Services

I offer a full range of specialized occupational therapy services to meet the unique needs of adults and seniors. My personalized approach aims to improve quality of life and independence.

At home or in a living environment

  • Home Safety Assessment and Adaptation Recommendations
Comprehensive home safety assessments for individuals with mobility challenges, fall risks, or cognitive impairments. These services include evaluating mobility, transfers, bathroom safety, and cognitive abilities, as well as providing personalized recommendations and support navigating home care services through the Long-Term Care program of the Department of Social Development

  • Home Modification Needs Assessment
Assessment for individuals who are no longer able to perform daily activities at home due to physical barriers. Following the assessment, recommendations are provided to improve accessibility and make daily activities easier, such as installing a ramp or lift, renovating a bathroom or shower, modifying the kitchen, or making bedroom adaptations.

  • Mobility and Transfer Equipment Assessment
Comprehensive evaluation of the individual in their home environment to determine the most appropriate mobility equipment and necessary accessories. Trial wheelchairs are used to ensure comfort and ease of use, and to determine the exact wheelchair prescription. The Occupational Therapist obtains all required insurance documentation on behalf of the client/family, including the signed physician’s prescription, justification letter, and quotes.

  • Activities of Daily Living Assessment and Recommendations
Occupational Therapists are experts in function and evaluate a person’s ability to perform daily activities. When difficulties are identified, adaptive aids and rehabilitation equipment can be recommended to make activities easier and safer.

    • Bathroom equipment — raised toilet seats, bath benches, shower chairs, hand-held showers, grab bars.

    • Transfer aids — transfer poles, grab bars, bed rails, ceiling lifts, floor lifts.

    • Activities of Daily Living aids — weighted utensils, button hooks, sock aids, long-handled reachers.

  • Cognitive Assessment
Occupational Therapists are trained to assess memory, orientation, attention, organization, judgment, and reasoning using a variety of standardized assessment tools.

  • Pre-Discharge / Pre-Surgery Assessment
When an individual has had a prolonged hospital stay or is preparing for surgery, and a change in abilities or physical condition is anticipated or observed, an Occupational Therapist can assess the home to determine the most suitable adaptive aids and rehabilitation equipment for a safe return home.

  • Pressure Ulcer Management
For individuals with pressure sores over bony areas (e.g., tailbone, hips, heels), an Occupational Therapist can recommend specialized equipment such as positioning cushions, pressure-relief cushions, therapeutic mattresses, or positioning aids to reduce pressure, improve comfort, and promote healing.

  • Support for Seniors and Caregivers
Assistance for seniors and their families in finding resources and home services adapted to their needs.

At work

  • Workstation Ergonomic Assessment and Equipment/Adaptation Recommendations
Assessment of a workstation based on the individual’s built, the tasks performed, and their work habits. Education on ergonomic principles and proper work habits is an important part of this assessment

  • Return-to-Work Program
Return-to-work programs allow individuals to gradually and safely resume their professional activities with physician approval. They may return to full, modified, or transitional duties. The Occupational Therapist supports the return to work by developing a personalized plan and providing guidance, instruction and strategies to ensure safety while performing job tasks.

À propos

Hi! I'm France

An occupational therapist by training (B.Sc.OT), I also hold a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and a master in business administration (MBA), which enable me to take a comprehensive, human-centered, and strategic approach to well-being. For nearly 20 years, I worked within New Brunswick’s public health system, including more than six years as Regional Director of a clinical geriatrics program.

I remain deeply committed to supporting seniors so they can live safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible. A member in good standing of both the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists (NBAOT) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT), I am dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centered care.

My career path has allowed me to support individuals in maintaining their autonomy and comfort in daily life, while also contributing to the development of community services that are tailored to the needs of the population

Looking forward to meet you
